MaMkhize (born Shauwn Mkhize; 6 April 1975) is a South African businessperson and reality personality best known for her Mzansi Magic reality television series, Kwa Mam’Mkhize.

She owns the PSL football club Royal Eagles F.C. and the construction company Zikhulise Group, which has several businesses, including Zikhulise Maintenance and Transport, Zikhulise Auto Recoveries, and Inyanga Trading.

Early life

MaMkhize was born Shauwn Mkhize on 6 April 1975 in the village of Umbumbulu in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

She grew up in a politically active family. Her father, Sipho Mkhize, was killed for political reasons in 1991, while her mother, Florence Mkhize, was also an ANC activist during apartheid.

Her mother, who had a construction company, died in 2008. The company was then handed over to Shauwn and was named Zikhulise Construction. She has a sister, Nozipho Ngubo. Her brother, Sbu Mkhize, died in a shoot-out with police in Isipingo in 1992.

Education

MaMkhize holds a Diploma in Accounting from ML Sultan Technikon, now Durban University of Technology.

In 2021, she received an honorary Doctorate in Philosophy from the Good Shepherd College of Religion, Culture, and Training.

Career

After graduating in 1996, MaMkhize worked in the finance departments for many companies. She later shifted to owning personal businesses.

She launched small projects from the local municipality, including feeding schemes, painting, and construction work.

She began a construction company, Zikhulise Group, which has businesses like Zikhulise Maintenance and Transport, Zikhulise Auto Recoveries, and Inyanga Trading.

MaMkhize left the Royal Eagles football team. She bought Real Kings and changed its name to Royal AM. She also bought Bloemfontein Celtic.

In January 2020, she launched her reality television show, Kwa Mam’ Mkhize, on Mzansi Magic. It bagged the Best Reality TV Show Award at the 2020 Hollywood American Prestigious Awards.

In 2021, MaMkhize appeared on the SABC1 soap opera Uzalo. She played a mysterious, wealthy woman who bought the Kwa Mashu Kingdom Church.

Philanthropy

Apart from the glitz and glamour, MaMkhize is known for her philanthropic endeavours. She has empowered the black business and gives back to society.

In 2020, she collaborated with the Department of Sports, Arts & Culture to select a school for a donation. She gave sanitary pads and shoes to Umlazi ComTech High School.

She is an activist for social change. She is active in the fight against gender-based violence against women and children, and HIV and AIDS.

In 2021, she worked with the SABC 1 Expressions and the Department of Correctional Services for labour to build 20 houses for the underprivileged with the help of prison inmates.

Personal life

Shauwn Mkhize married businessman Sbu Mpisane in a joint estate agreement in 1991. The duo, known for their wealth in Durban, had been together for 26 years. They had a son, Andile Mpisane, together.

Mkhize filed divorce papers in October 2018. After a six-year-long divorce battle with Sbu, the Durban High Court dissolved the divorce battle on 18 November 2024.

She has thrown many parties at her luxury home in La Lucia, north of Durban. Many top celebrities and politicians have attended, including Police Minister Bheki Cele.

During their separation, they divided the mansion into the northern part for Mam’Mkhize and the southern part for Sbu.

Businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize has an estimated net worth of R350 million. She has a car collection worth a reported R55 million.
